free where it's personal, paid where it's shared
a private chat is free, forever - no trial, every expense logged. a group starts on a free trial (the first expenses are on the house) and then takes a license: 5 usd a month for the whole group, however many people are in it. when the trial runs out teresa pauses - nothing is deleted, the web page and downloads keep working, it just stops logging until someone activates a license.
ask for the status anytime to see the trial meter or the renewal date.
paying for a group
say the word and a payment link lands in the chat. whoever asked becomes the license owner - no matter whose card actually pays - and the moment stripe confirms, the group gets its ✅ and logging continues. no account, no email dance: the license is tied to the whatsapp number that asked.

one license, movable
the license belongs to a person, not to the chat. when the trip ends, its owner says use my license here in the next group and the slot moves over - the old group keeps its data and web page, the new one starts logging. one subscription can also carry several slots (one per group) if you run more than one.
manage, cancel, split the fee
manage my subscription gets the owner a private stripe portal link (card, cancel, extra slots) - sent by dm, never posted in the group. free up my license detaches it from a group without canceling anything - said in the group itself, or by dm naming the group - and the slot is ready for the next one. and if the group wants to share the cost, log the subscription as a group expense makes each renewal land on the tab like any other expense - paid by the owner, split like the rest.
