one message per expense, in your own words, any language, no commands. the 👌 reaction means it's in the book. wrong? say "that was 350" or "delete the tacos". receipts: send the photo or the pdf and it attaches to the matching expense.
three ways to use it
- alone - a private ledger in your own chat with the bot. free, forever.
- in a group that splits - trips, roommates, couples: it remembers who paid, splits among everyone or just the people named, and posts who owes who when the tab closes.
- in a group with a budget - one shared pot, no balances: say "no split" once, set "budget 20,000", and it warns at 80% and 100%.

the telegram specifics
- tap start, or add it to a group with the button above - telegram opens the group picker and drops the bot in. unlike whatsapp, telegram tells bots when they are added, so teresa says hello right away, before anyone writes.
- no phone number, ever. telegram never shares numbers with bots; your telegram user is the account. nothing about your number is stored.
- 👌 instead of 💸. telegram bots can only react with a fixed set of emoji, and 💸 isn't in it - a logged expense (and a saved receipt) gets 👌. same meaning: it's in the book.
- forum topics work. in a supergroup with topics, every topic shares the group's book; replies land in the topic they came from.
- every chat gets a live web page - the list, totals, balances when the tab splits, csv/xlsx/pdf downloads - behind a private link you can rotate from the chat.
faq
does it need my phone number?
no. telegram never shares your number with bots, and teresa never asks for it. your telegram user is the account - no signup, nothing to verify. details in the privacy policy.
does it work in groups?
yes - that's the point. add teresa to the group (the button above opens telegram's group picker) and it logs what anyone spends, splits among the people in the tab, attaches receipts and posts the who-owes-who when the tab closes. @mention it when you want an answer.
is it free?
personal chats: yes, forever, no limits. groups: the first 10 expenses are free, then 3 usd a month for the whole group, however many people. no feature tiers - see pricing.
i already use it on whatsapp - can i move my book?
the books don't move: a whatsapp chat and a telegram chat are separate ledgers, and teresa has no way to know they are you. export first (csv, xlsx or pdf - "send me the xlsx"), then start fresh here. pick one app per book.
is this an official telegram product?
no. teresa is an independent project that uses telegram's bot platform; it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by telegram. their trademarks are theirs.
