• splitting on: it tracks who paid what and who owes who. settle whenever you like - monthly, or when the number annoys someone. uneven shares in words, no percentages ui: "rent 12,000, i pay two thirds".
• splitting off: one shared ledger. totals by person and category, nobody owes anyone - for couples whose money is already merged and who just want to see where it goes. a budget still works: "budget 25,000" and it speaks up at 80% and 100%.
